Second Year French Exchange

Davitt College is partnered with St Martin De France a co educational boarding and day school in Pontoise, North West of Paris.

The exchange takes place in second year. A group of students are selected from both schools to take part. These students correspond with their partner student throughout the year before the actual exchange takes place. This correspondence consists of exchanging profiles, recording DVDs of themselves speaking their target language, using msn messenger to exchange messages in their target language and emailing in their target language.

The students are hosted by the family of their partner students which allows immersion in the target language, this is key to the sucess of the exchange in terms of increase language command.

During the exchange students are integrated into school life in France and in Ireland aswell as taking part in a range of cultural and leisure excursions.

In order to ensure that focus remains on increasing language capability the students complete a daily journal. The journal is assessed and the most concientously completed journal wins an award.

The students enjoy the experience of living life in another language.
