An Gaisce

The President’s Award or, An Gaisce, is a programme that was set up to encourage young people to set out personal challenges and ways to achieve them. Individuals take on these challenges under the areas of learning a personal skill, taking part in community involvement, taking on a form of physical recreation and completing an adventure trip. These sections are all supervised by a PAL (President’s Awards Leader).
This year in Davitt College twelve students under the guidance of PAL Ms. Emer Whyte, will take part in An Gaisce with the hope of earning both Bronze and Silver awards. On the 20th of October the students of Davitt College were honoured to have a visit from Majella Killeen, the An Gaisce Regional Development Officer. After an inspiring presentation these students are now a lot more insightful as to what their objectives are for gaining the president’s award, and how they are going to do so.
Both the staff and students of Davitt College are looking forward to seeing what these students have to bring to the school community, and what sort of challenges they hope to overcome.
