Art Workshop First Year

In December 2009 the first year Art students participated in a very sucessfull Art workshop in Theatrical Make Up Design.
This workshop was facilitated by Sabina Sweeney.
Sabina is a past pupil of Davitt College who went on to study Art at the University of Sunderland in England ,where she achieved a B.A. (hons) in Fine Art in 2002. Upon graduation Sabina travelled to Greece,Slovakia,Slovenia and South Korea and returned to the U.K. in 2008 to study Professional Make Up Design at Delamar Academy.
Sabrina while home on holidays, delivered the workshop in Theatrical Make Up, for the students of Davitt College,presenting a wide range of options within the Art field and demonstrating how to create special effects for stage and screen . Some of the special effects she created were deep knife scar wounds, burn wounds and special period hair designs, all methods used to create the illusion for the dramas protrayed.
While the end result had a scary effect on those who witnessed the transformations of the students involved the overall feedback was one of excitement and enjoyment of the process involved.

Art Awards

Second year student, in photo, won first prize in the 'Design A Christmas Card Competition ' organised by Mayo Education Centre for all second level schools.Her design was used by Mayo Education Centre for thei rofficial Christmas card.
