It was screams of excitement and delight following the Junior Certificate results at Davitt College, Castlebar on Wednesday 9th September 2015. In January 2014 Davitt College Fifth Year students were honoured with a visit from Award-Winning Irish poet Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin.  It is broadly acknowledged that her poems open many doors to multiple worlds “with dense, captivating sound and a certain magic that proves not only to be believable but necessary, in fact, to our understanding of the world around us”.  Having studied her poetry earlier in the academic year the students found this experience very educational and rewarding.

Davitt College Students receive special commendation At BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition

Mr. Michael Ring, T.D., congratulating Davitt College, Castlebar students Cillian Scott and Nathan Dean on their BT Young Scientist project ‘Technology Opens Doors’ at the 2014 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the R.D.S., Dublin. The students’ received a special commendation in the Technology Intermediate Group Category. Their project involved the design and construction of a USB Key that can lock and unlock doors.

Davitt College Student Receives All-Ireland Third-Level Scholarship

Hannah McEllin, Davitt College, Castlebar, was honoured recently when she received a 2013 All Ireland Third Level Scholarship for her high achievement in her Leaving Certificate Examination. The awards ceremony took place at University of Limerick, where Michael Noonan, T.D., Minister for Finance was present together with Mr. J.P. McManus, sponsor of the scholarships. Guest of Honour was Mr. Michael O’Leary, C.E.O. of Ryanair.
