Davitt College Students Visit Stormont
A group of 3rd. Year students from Davitt College in Castlebar were entertained by Northern Ireland Education Minister Ms. Caitriona Ruane on a recent visit to the Ulster Parliament Buildings at Stormont Castle. The students who were accompanied by their C.S.P.E. co-ordinator Ms. Antoinette Hopkins and teacher Ms. Stephanie Kelly had gone North on a fact finding mission for their Junior Cert. C.S.P.E. project. The group was given a tour of the Parliament Buildings and the historical significance of the building was explained. While there they were met by Education Minister, Ms. Caitriona Ruane, who entertained them in her office and introduced them to Deputy First Minister Mr. Martin McGuinness.
Another CSPE Project undertaken by third year CSPE students was a visit to our local Court House which gave the students an insight into the legal system in their local area. The Courts
Service prepared a very interesting programme explaining how the Courts System works and operates. A third year class (3D students) at Davitt College took part in this programme and found it a most beneficial and educational experience.
