Davitt College team wins at Enterprise Boot Camp
Three transition year teams from Davitt College participated in the recent enterprise boot camp run by Mayo County Enterprise Board in the Travellers Friend Theatre, Castlebar. The Davitt College students competed with students from other schools to come up with business ideas and to demonstrate their ability to create a viable project from idea to market stage.
The three participating teams from Davitt College displayed great initiative in the ideas they chose. Their chosen company names were Fitkidz, DCYR and the winner, The Beeping Clip. The winning team came up with an idea for a device for visually impaired people and for blind people. The device which would be portable and could be attached to any liquid container, would give an audible warning as the container approached capacity.
The members of the winning team, Shauna Clarke, Darren McGuiness, Robbie Fadden, Martina Moran, Hannah Large, Mark Flanagan, Emma Forkin, Francis McDonagh and Eamon Patterson each received a digital camera.
Much credit is due to the Mayo County Enterprise Board especially Padraig McDermott and Frank Fullard for running this boot camp to sow the seed of enterprise in student’s minds. Special thanks also to local entrepreneurs Catherine Brennan and Tom Murphy for supporting the project. It was a great experience for all students and they benefited greatly from participating in it.
