LEAVING CERTIFICATE
Students are required to take seven subjects for Leaving Certificate but may in addition opt for the new LCVP subject (see below)
All subjects are offered at Higher and Ordinary Level.

The above range and choice of subjects allow students to take a broad Leaving Certificate or to specialise in a Science, Business, Humanities or Technological Leaving Certificate which will give our students entry to any course or faculty in any of the Universities, Training Colleges, Institutes of Technology or other third level institutes. All subjects are open to male and female students.
Parents are invited to the school to discuss their son's/daughter's career aspirations with the Career Counseling teacher both on an individual basis and at a group meetings.
The Career Guidance teachers prepare students for interviews, arranges work experience programmes and organises visits by students to Third Level Colleges for seminars and Open Days
LEAVING CERTIFICATE VOCATIONAL PROGRAMME (L.C.V.P.)
In addition to taking seven examination subjects, all students will have an opportunity to study a new extra subject called Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (L.C.V.P.). The programme is designed to foster in young people a spirit of enterprise, adaptability and initiative, developing the communicative, interpersonal and technological skills which are so necessary in today’s world. It will help students to prepare for the real world where the ability to cope with rapid change is of increasing importance in preparation for social and economic life.

This is treated as another subject for points purposes i.e. students may count L.C.V.P. as one of their six best subjects.
Approximately 90% of our students are eligible to sit L.C.V.P. in their Leaving Certificate. For eligibility criteria contact school.The experience gained in Transition year really benefits students taking this subject.
