Oireachtas CSPE Workshop

On the 2nd and 9th of November, Davitt College 3rd year students took part in CSPE workshops delivered and facilitated by Mr. Martin O’Donoghue who works for the Oireachtas.

The main aim of the workshop was to give a better understanding of the workings of the Houses of the Oireachtas. The workshops covered many areas including the Government, the Taoiseach, the Oireachtas, the President, Dáil Eireann, the Seanad, the Constitution and the Supreme Court to name just a few. Students also questioned our local T.D. Mr. John O’Mahony who spoke to all 3rd years and who gave a brief analysis of what a typical week would entail for him as a national politician.
Students really enjoyed the workshops and are currently writing up their reports as part of their action projects which will account for 60% of their final marks in their Junior Cert. C.S.P.E examinations.
Sincere thanks to Mr O’Donoghue the facilitator and to Mr John O‘Mahony, for making the workshop such a success.
