Davitt College Management Learning System
This school year will see the introduction, on a pilot basis, of a management learning system for selected First Year and Second Year students.
The rich relevant educational resources, prepared by Davitt College teachers for their students, are designed to support student learning and provide a link between the classroom and the home environment. The subject specific resources cater for students with a variety of learning styles to improve retention and understanding of concepts.
The system is delivered through a standard web browser which can be accessed from any location (student’s home) with a computer and internet connection. Expensive software is not necessary. Students who may not have the luxury of internet access in their homes will be provided with the resources via the school high speed broadband system.
Shown below is a Biology topic (Cells) lesson plan prepared by a teacher in Davitt College. The 4 weekly ‘topic plan’ is clearly outlined at the start.
Each week resources, used by the teacher in class, are made available to students to download. More resources are added as the year progresses creating a database of learning support the student can access to at any time.
Items entered in the ‘News Forum’ by the teacher will automatically be emailed to the students who have access to the course.
Below is an example of such an email received by a student.
Students can email the teacher, in confidence, for help, support and advice at any time.
Besides providing resources for the class, teachers can also:
