Gerard Moran wins Hamilton Prize in Mathematics



A former student of Davitt College in Castlebar has won the 2010 Hamilton Prize in Mathematics on behalf of NUIG. Gerard Moran who did his Leaving Cert. in Davitt College in 2007 is in his final year at the Galway University where he is completing a BSc. degree in Financial Mathematics and Economics. The prize, which is worth €1000 and a scroll to each of the winners who represent nine universities in Ireland, is awarded by the Royal Irish Academy with the generous support of Invest Northern Ireland. It was presented this year by Professor Robert Merton, winner of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Economics.
