Young Social Innovators (YSI) believes that young people are a powerful and largely untapped force for change in their local communities and in wider society. Promoting and leading the way in education for social innovation in Ireland, Young Social Innovators encourages, motivates and creates new opportunities for young people to actively participate in the world around them. It seeks to engage young people wherever they are – in schools, communities, youth organizations, in families, in or out of work – and prepare them to fully take part in civic action whether through volunteerism, community service, service-learning, citizenship education, social entrepreneurship and innovation.
As part of the Young Social Innovator project, the students of Davitt College have decided to raise awareness among the school community about the importance of leading a healthy and happy life. A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body and we believe that health equals happiness. We have come up with some simple and fun ways to help students and their families to lead a healthier lifestyle and we have been sharing them through our blog. We are also organising exciting activities in our school such as Zumba, Kickboxing, and we have opened a smoothie bar to run weekly in our canteen area.

Also next month a meditation room will be open in school to all students to ensure they can unwind and relax during their lunchtimes and break times.
